More roster news out of Syracuse

Monday, Doug Marrone announced Mike Williams quit. Tuesday, the Syracuse coach announced his roster will be even thinner come Saturday.

Running back Antwon Bailey, defensive end Torrey Ball and offensive guard Andrew Tiller have all been suspended for a violation of team rules. I can’t help but wonder if that threesome was involved with whatever Williams might – or might not – have been involved with this past weekend. The guys at Troy Nunes is an Absolute Magician said they’re hearing Williams quit because he was about to be suspended. Again.  Remember, it was just a week ago that the Biletnikoff Award finalist – and arguably Syracuse’s top talent – had to sit out the Akron game for a similar undisclosed violation of team rules. Like I said, hmmm.

Junior defensive end Jared Kimmel will also miss this weekend’s game against Pittsburgh, and the rest of the season, as he’s undergoing knee surgery to repair the same knee that was surgically reconstructed in 2007. Kimmel played in all eight games and has 12 tackles.

On the good news front (yes, there is some…), center Jim McKenzie finally returns this weekend after being sidelined for three games. McKenzie’s played in 28 games for the Orange and made 27 starts.
