This story is getting weirder and weirder. To recap: Syracuse coach Doug Marrone walks into a press conference yesterday and, almost as an aside, says star wideout Mike Williams walked into his office that morning and quit. He offers no explanation. Today, rumors surface Williams was about to be suspended (for the second time in three weeks) and therefore went the quitting route instead. Then Marrone has Syracuse’s athletic communications office issue a release announcing the suspension of three more football players. (I wonder aloud if these suspensions are related to the never-executed suspension of Williams that was rumored.)
Well, now we have word that the three suspended players - tailback Antwon Bailey, defensive end Torey Ball and guard Andrew Tiller – AND Williams were in a car accident at 5:30 a.m. Sunday morning.
The Syracuse Post-Standard is reporting that a Ford SUV Tiller was driving was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer and that state police say it was the tractor-trailer’s driver who was entirely at fault. The state police captain Post-Standard reporter Charles McChesney quotes says no alcohol was involved and that the tractor-trailer driver was tailgating.
Now here’s the kicker: the car accident was on the New York State Thruway in the town of Lenox. Which is 20 miles east of Syracuse. And maybe five minutes west of Turning Stone. The Post-Standard doesn’t surmise that that’s where the football players were. My first call up there just net nothing. But the geography sure is interesting.

Wow, it sounds like the program is imploding up there.
Frank Sinatra Jr and Charlie Murphy at Turning Stone? They aren’t exactly pulling in the A-list up there are they?
Great stuff Aditi!
