Morning Roundup, Monday

By Aditi on 02. Nov, 2009

paperThe Yankees win (how about giving credit to Johnny Damon instead of A-Rod?) and New York’s now one win from title no. 27. Only, I have tickets to Game 6. Rooting for a Game 6 isn’t the same as rooting for the Phils, is it?… Talk about an out-of-this-world honeymoon…It’s so much more interesting reading about this marriage than the Clintons’…

Cincinnati jumped from no. 8 to no. 5 in the BCS standings and now there is a path to the title game. Albeit slim, but still a path. (Columbus Dispatch, ESPN.com)

Cincinnati’s remaining schedule is actually more impressive than Texas’. (The Sporting News)

Brian Kelly’s managed QBs pretty darn well since his arrival. But now he might have his first full-blown QB controversy. (Bleacher Report)

This week, Cincinnati faces the last team it lost to, UConn. (Cincinnati Enquirer)

The news keeps on getting worse for UConn: QB Cody Endres had season-ending shoulder surgery Sunday, returner extraordinaire Robbie Frey will have season-ending shoulder surgery this week. (The Day)

Randy Edsall says if you want to move on, you have to just… move on. (Connecticut Post)

I wouldn’t be surprised if tempers really did flare after that heartbreaker Saturday against Rutgers. This team is reeling. Edsall has a decision now: burn freshman QB Mike Box’s redshirt or make do with a walk-on at back-up? (Hartford Courant)

Louisville rode a 5-8 walk-on QB to victory Saturday. If only anyone was in PapaJohns Stadium to see it. (Louisville Courier-Journal)

Props to Pitt’s strength and conditioning staff. (Pittsburgh Tribune-Review)

Syracuse comes to Pittsburgh this weekend. Someone smells a trap game. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Staying idle helped Pitt in the polls too. (PittsburghPanthers.com)

Rutgers’ win Saturday reaffirmed why AD Tim Pernetti took this gig. (Home News Tribune)

Greg Schiano is not worried about his kicker. (Star-Ledger)

South Florida won’t need a running back rotation if Mo Plancher keeps this up. Knock out West Virginia and the Bulls get West Virginia’s spot in the BCS standings. (Tampa Tribune)

Syracuse is playing “with more heart and hustle” than at any point in the last five years; not that the fans care. (Syracuse Post-Standard)

One corner got beat twice by USF’s Carlton Mitchell, but West Virginia coach Bill Stewart says that’s on his entire defense. The “little guy” needed help. (Charleston Gazette)

Stewart wasn’t so generous when it came to his kickers and the officials. Imagine Bob Huggins coaching football. (Times West Virginian)

As much as I’d love to see the Yankees finish it off in Philly, as a huge Yankee fan, it would be so sweet to win it at home against Pedro.

UCONN’s coach is going to have his hands full. Everything these players have been through lately is bound to cause some turmoil soon.

Big win for Rutgers, they needed that! Now they have an extra week to prepare for South Florida.
