Pike’s procedure

I need to find out what the difference between “surgery” and “a procedure” is. If the “procedure” requires a knife and some anesthesia, isn’t it a surgery? In any case…

Cincinnati QB Tony Pike had a procedure earlier this morning to repair the plate that was inserted in his left (re: non-throwing) arm last year and that shifted in last Thursday’s win over USF. The Heisman hopeful had practiced yesterday with a cast, he’ll now miss Tuesday and Wednesday, and the hope is he’ll return to practice Thursday, with a cast. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Pike could still play Saturday in the Bearcats’ Homecoming game against Louisville, if he can protect himself.

In the meantime, Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly said Zach Collaros (who is more of a running QB and who finished out the game in Tampa) and Chazz Anderson (who is a bit more disciplined within the system) will split snaps today and tomorrow 50-50.
